How is your relationship with your body?

I am beginning to perceive more consciously how the flexibility of the body comes before than the flexibility of the mind. The body adapts, transforms, and moulds itself to the environment and to good or bad habits.

In contrast, patterns of thought need to be recognised before a decision can be made to evolve and transform one’s mindset.

The ego requires an explanation for absolutely everything before making a change. Thought follows social, cultural, and familial patterns...

Esther Perel called this "Confirmation bias is the tendency to seek out and prefer information that supports our preexisting beliefs. As a result, we tend to ignore any information that contradicts those beliefs".

An example when we don't listen our body could be: you arrive somewhere, and your body feels uncomfortable, sensing a heavy energy. However, the mind says, "My friends are here, I’ll stay." Another example: you eat something you really enjoy, your body feels full, but your mind says, "I want more, let me grab another piece..."

The conscious transformation of the body is becoming fascinating to me, and I’m experiencing it through Ashtanga Yoga. This is a path that’s only just beginning and will last a lifetime. It’s a philosophy, where you start to develop a very intimate connection with your body, and things are happening in the body and the mind doesn’t yet understand, but everything is constantly evolving.

In the first two chapters of the book I’m writing, the bodies of the women in each story were crying out for help, in one way or another. Yet, they carried their trauma and behavioural patterns for years. The wise body repeatedly showed symptoms until the pains turned into illnesses.

Let's remember that it is only now that women are beginning to have safe spaces to speak; however, in some countries, that option doesn't even exist.

Pause and reflect on these questions: How is your relationship with your body? How capable are you of stopping to feel its pain or strength? Are you able to believe what your body is telling you?

I’m not talking about a slender body, no. It might look radiant but could be completely aching, inflexible, tense, or poorly nourished. It could be a body that hasn’t been listened to. I’m not talking about how a body looks, I’m talking about its real wellbeing and strength, the organs, the matter as a whole...

Today I noticed, for example, that from so much typing on the computer, my hand or finger signalled pain and tiredness. Yet, the mind wants to keep going, as if there were no tomorrow. How much wisdom is there in the body we carry with us every day? How much expansion would the body show us if we just listened to it?

Now, this question comes to mind... What is fidelity? Where does being faithful start? Shouldn’t it all begin with us, to then extend outward? How faithful are you to your body’s needs, and how unfaithful are you by adding burdens or not listening to what it asks of you? or not getting help...

The body is another relationship in our lives that invites us to transform our consciousness, but only if we choose to listen to it; otherwise, through its wisdom, it will find ways to make us listen.

The site looks great! As usual, I appreciate your posts, and this one in particular. I appreciate the comment about how the mind might not have our best interest, but the body knows best. The body doesn't appreciate the toxins of excessive alcohol, but the mind wants more. Listening to the body feels particularly prevalent regarding addiction.

I look forward to your posts. And happy birthday, Amazonia! Sending love from Maracaibo.

ohhhhhh!! I can see so much love in this message :) Thanks for remembering my birthday.

For that reason is so important to have a daily connection with your body, scanning it. When we start to listen to our body we are getting into a deeper connection and awareness. I highly recommend you daily practices like: 10 mins of scanning your body before starting your daily routine, introduce the practice of yoga, breathing exercise.

Send you a big hug from the beautiful city of Cambridge.
